Independence Day celebrations 2017

Dear all

We finally started our journey of festivities for all residents of Durga Residency today with the befitting Independence Day celebrations.

The day started with us affixing the paper flags around the common area in the ground floor. Although we had thought about having the flag hoisted on the roof, we had to have a change in plans as we could not have a clamp done of the roof to affix the flag stand.

So, our treasurer Mr Jyoti Kumar came up with a brilliant idea of using sand boxed within cemented circular structures that were available in the ground floor. Although initially I had my doubts if it would be able to hold the whole thing in place, as it later turned out, it was well done and pretty solid as a temporary foundation!

We delayed the flag hoisting by an hour, doing it at 11AM instead of 10AM. Our President Mr Ashok Aggarwal and our executive committee member Mr Kaliprasad Jaiswal did the flag hoisting along with children from our residency.

I was particularly happy to see the children take part in the festivities and how they played around and had fun. It seemed that we, for the first time, in many years, could have a team event where everyone felt happy being a part.

We also distributed laddoos to everyone who attended the festivities. There were chocolates for children as well. We also went to the ground floor shops and distributed laddoos to the shop owners.

If you are someone who missed all these, please do not worry. We will have such festivities planned again in the near future.

Please take a look at some of the photos that were clicked during the celebrations.

Before I end this piece, a big thank you to all of you who contributed and helped to make this event a grand success!

Happy Independence Day once again! Jai Hind!

Best wishes,
CM
