Tribute to the fallen heroes

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our soldiers in Pulwama,  Kashmir and paid our small tribute in memory of our heroes.

We came together to pray with candle lights for the families of our soldiers as well as pray for peace to be restored in the valley.

The kids created the first ever wall magazine and we displayed it in our ground floor notice board.

Small steps but it really felt good. We even urged everyone to donate for the families of our defense forces, for those who lost their near and dear ones.

Jai Hind!

Khana Khazana 2019 - Jan 19, 2019

“Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.”

― Ruth Reichl

Greetings everyone! We had a mega event last night. For the first time ever, we organized a food festival - the Khana Khazana 2019 with some of our favourite chefs participating. For those who missed, here is the list of participants along with the dishes they prepared.

While it goes without saying that all the dishes were prepared wonderfully well with hard work from our respected participants, what amazed me most was the wonderful response we received! Here take a look at some of the photos!

We started at 4pm IST and continued till 9PM IST, by when nearly all of the stalls sold out, thanks to their awesome dishes! We started aggregating the sum of total sales made by each stall and identified 3 top winners who were given prizes! We also gave prizes to all other participants!

The 3 top prize winners were:

Our prizes were the smiles we saw on the faces of each participant and prize winners and yes, foodies like me and you!

The proceeds from the food festival would go towards the Durga Puja which will be held this year - the much-awaited festival and worship of the Divine Mother!

I shall end this post with snapshots of the moments of prize distribution!

Khana Khazana zindabad! May we have this event soon again!

Cheers!

New Years Eve celebrations - 31st Dec' 2018

Greetings everyone!

I'll take a moment to first wish you a wonderful and happy new year 2019 and what better way to usher it in other than dancing away the night amidst music, food, and friends!
Exactly what we did last night.

We had several events like:

1. Quiz for kids and adults alike - Questions were prepared by Sukla di and she was the quiz master. The questions were a healthy mix of good, funny and real mind-boggling. My personal favorite was -
"Which parts of the human body keep growing throughout life?"
The answer, of course, is - nose and ears. If you are curious to know more about this, please feel free to read here. Every correct answer earned a pen.

2. Dumb charades - This is always fun. We created groups among the participants and then invited one member from each group to enact based on the secret chits provided by us. It was fun. Every correct guess earned a KitKat.

3. Coin counting for kids - We invited kids and gave them a simple task of counting coins. Every correct answer earned them a prize (sponsored by Mrs. Mahua Chowdhury). It was fun looking at the young minds working this thing out.

4. Impromptu dance performance by Sayani

5. Recitation and impromptu songs by kids (plus lots of laughter and fun)

6. Ushering in the new year in style with music and dance and a generous helping of party poppers!

Sharing some photographs from the events we had and the enjoyment we all did together.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words! Here, take a look!

Truly, we look forward to such an event once again, as soon as possible.

Those who missed, well, tough luck folks, but I am sure you would make it next time!

PS. If you want your photos to be added to this post, please send them across to me and I'll add them. I have added whatever photos I had.

Cheers!!

Post Durga Puja Celebrations - Oct 21' 2018

On October 21, we had a great time together with more than 60 residents participating in post-Durga Puja get-together.

Throughout the day we had events and lots of fun and frolic. We had events like "Quiz", "Dumb Charades", "Catch the ball" and "Antakshari".

There were ample refreshments as well, starting with hot parathas and alu dam in the morning, followed by a sumptuous lunch and then again evening tea along with the classic Bihari style "litti chokha"!

Thank you, friends, from Durga Residency. It was a memorable day indeed.

Sharing some photos from the event to keep the memories etched forever.
