Independence Day celebrations 2017

Dear all

We finally started our journey of festivities for all residents of Durga Residency today with the befitting Independence Day celebrations.

The day started with us affixing the paper flags around the common area in the ground floor. Although we had thought about having the flag hoisted on the roof, we had to have a change in plans as we could not have a clamp done of the roof to affix the flag stand.

So, our treasurer Mr Jyoti Kumar came up with a brilliant idea of using sand boxed within cemented circular structures that were available in the ground floor. Although initially I had my doubts if it would be able to hold the whole thing in place, as it later turned out, it was well done and pretty solid as a temporary foundation!

We delayed the flag hoisting by an hour, doing it at 11AM instead of 10AM. Our President Mr Ashok Aggarwal and our executive committee member Mr Kaliprasad Jaiswal did the flag hoisting along with children from our residency.

I was particularly happy to see the children take part in the festivities and how they played around and had fun. It seemed that we, for the first time, in many years, could have a team event where everyone felt happy being a part.

We also distributed laddoos to everyone who attended the festivities. There were chocolates for children as well. We also went to the ground floor shops and distributed laddoos to the shop owners.

If you are someone who missed all these, please do not worry. We will have such festivities planned again in the near future.

Please take a look at some of the photos that were clicked during the celebrations.

Before I end this piece, a big thank you to all of you who contributed and helped to make this event a grand success!

Happy Independence Day once again! Jai Hind!

Best wishes,
CM

Achievements - July' 2017

Hello all residents of Durga Residency

Greetings!

I wished to let you know that we have nearly completed a month since taking over this association (from July 9' 2017).

What have we done so far? This was a question we asked ourselves. This was a question, you had as well, I am sure.

Here is a summary of what we did.

  1. We collected old dues. Thanks to all of you who heartily supported us. We could not have done this without you. However, this is an on-going process and not complete by any means.
  2. We fixed the elevator - the motor had got damaged.
  3. We paid two months electric bill for the mother meter (total excess of 20K).
  4. We fixed all the corridor lights. In fact we fixed LED in most of the floors.
  5. We put up a light on the roof as well, which was important since our family members often go there in the evening.
  6. We formed the executive committee.
  7. We set up a WhatsApp group and invited all of you to be part of it.
  8. We published this website. https://durgaresidency.blogspot.in/
  9. We added this website in the Google map marker as well, but it is yet to be approved.
  10. For the first time in many years, we paid the security and sweeper their salaries right on the first day of the month. In fact I heard from our treasurer that they were very surprised when they received the money without them asking for it.
  11. We fixed the exterior pipeline leak that inconvenienced people.

Did we miss anything?
Did we meet your expectations?
Where can we improve?

Please let us know.

Thank you and wish to have your support in coming days!

Regards,
Chiranjib Mazumdar
